Betty 1

Sit there
lonely like shadowless light,
so I can watch the midnight minutes
tic away toward you.
I’ll sit there
try to say the things I’ve always wanted to,
but instead get lost in those eyes
and conversations about our jobs
(and I love that blood
and guts don’t faze you).
God, I swear,
it’s like you and I
we’re just old souls connected
‘cause I can’t imagine
there’s a single girl in this nowhere desert town
who could make me feel the way you do.
